Marie
Harper, Bookkeeper
I am Local 174’s Bookkeeper.
Prior to joining Local 174 in 2008, I was a bookkeeper for over
ten years in the retail/service industry. I most recently worked
for a company which was acquired by NW Computer Support about
two years ago. The Local 174 Office is conveniently located next
door to that company’s office and I enjoyed taking a walk
through 174’s parking lot during breaks. Of course, 174’s
parking area is actually that of Joint Council of Teamsters No.
28 and is shared by Local 117, Local 763 and the JC-28 staff.
I found the people coming and going at the Teamster Building
to be quite friendly, many of them giving me an encouraging comment
or stopping to say “Hi.” One day I ran into
Local 174 Senior Business Agent Tim Allen, who asked me, “By
any chance, are you a bookkeeper?” Local 174’s previous
bookkeeper had moved on to a new job. The timing to make a change
for me was perfect, and I’m very excited to be with Local
174 now, and to get the chance to learn more about the Teamsters
and to meet with the members of this Local!
Laurie
Wood, Dispatcher
I have been at Local 174 since
2004. I am the Dispatcher and Hiring Hall Coordinator. Before
coming to Local 174 I worked for a company where I prepared
all of the customs documentation for international freight.
Prior to that I was an over the road owner-operator doing long
haul work for nearly ten years. I spent a good number of those
years hauling furniture and then for about the last two or
three years hauling general freight. This is one of the reasons
I enjoy working with the members here at Local 174, especially
when I get to meet them. So stop in and say “Hi!”
Kat
Yonkman, Front Desk Clerk and Dues Clerk
I handle transfers, cash dues, new hires, faxes, and data entry.
Cindy
Ravenhill, Office Manager
I began my relationship with the Teamsters working in the Pension
Office at Northwest Administrators. In July of 1990 I accepted
a position at Local 741. I was “adopted” by Local 174 during
the merger of the two Locals in November of 2002. While working
in a Union Office can be very challenging, it can also be rewarding.
I feel that if I have helped one member resolve a problem, it
has been a good day.
Tina
Kim-Chang,
Administrative Assistant
I started with Teamsters 174 in March of 2010. I’m the Administrative Assistant for Secretary-Treasurer Rick Hicks, and I handle all the incoming grievances and correspondences for all the Business Agents. Prior to my arrival, I worked for SEIU Local 1000 in Sacramento, California, for 4 ½ years. I enjoy working at Local 174 because of its core values and beliefs. I take pride in my work, knowing I am helping to contribute to the fight for Economic and Social justice.
